About the instructor: Terrence Borden received his MA in Television, Film, and New Media from San Diego State University. He has worked on various projects as an editor, ranging from corporate videos to commericals to documentaries. He has taught editing at Southwestern College and SDSU, and currently teaches at the MAAC Community Charter school, teaching Multimedia to at-risk youth.

101: What is story? (May 10th)

-Narrative vs. Dramatic structure

102: Genres in Filmmaking (May 17th)

103: Emerging Story Forms (May 24th)

-New trends in storytelling formats & platforms

-Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, iPads as mediums for story

 

About the instructor: Cy Kuckenbaker was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship for filmmaking in 2004 and was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Lithuania from 2000-02. He received his MFA in filmmaking from the California Institute of the Arts. His film The Orphans premiered at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 2006 and went on to screen at the Pompidou in Paris, the Los Angeles Int., Calgary Int., Edmonton Int., and the Viennale film festivals. He financed his first feature film Bush League by working for the U.S. State Dept in Iraq for 21 months. Filmed in Malawi, Africa Bush League premiered in 2010 at the Vancouver Int Film Fest and won Best Doc Feature at the New Jersey Int Film Fest in 2011. His doc short INDENTURED screened at several human rights film festivals in 2010 and 2011 and screened for the House Armed Services Committee in the U.S. Congress and at the U.S. Pentagon. Cy is currently a community college professor in San Diego, CA.

Maya 3-D
100
Introductory Workshops: No experience with Maya 3-D is required, but it's recommended that you have some experience using a Mac.

This introductory series will introduce you to the basics of navigating through Maya 3-D, modeling, lighting, and much more. This introductory class will be offered every Tuesday, beginning June 12th. Enroll now to save your spot.

About the instructor: Don Dean has been a digital graphics professional, web developer, animator, and educator in both the academic and corporate worlds for more than 20 years. He teaches courses in web design, E-Commerce, digital graphics, and 3D Animation at MiraCosta College, Grossmont College, and is a visiting professor at DeVry University. Mr. Dean was also an award winning video artist at the Multimedia and Visual Arts School. He is also an instructional designer for a Fortune 500 company, where he puts his 3D and other digital graphics skills to work. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts from UCSD and a Master's in Educational Technology for SDSU.

About the Instructor: Rizzhel Javier is an award-winning photographer with an M.F.A. from S.D.S.U and has taught advanced photography classes at S.D.S.U. and The Museum of Photographic Art.
