Teen Producers Project

In the TPP classes teens will learn the basic principles of filmmaking, students will learn how to make short, 2-3 minute digital stories. Students will learn basic lighting techniques,  storyboarding, camera skills, and Final Cut Pro.

In the Advanced TPP classes young adults will learn the key principals of video production using the latest HD DSLR cameras, digital audio field-recording, balancing audio levels, and soundtrack creation. Students will also learn color correction, titles, captions, credits, and other advanced Final Cut Pro skills.

Media Arts Center San Diego has offered after school media arts programs since 2001 for youth ages 10-18 through the Teen Producers Project. Hundreds of youth throughout San Diego County and Orange County have learned about filmmaking and digital storytelling and have produced engaging video projects.

During the Summer of 2001, participating teens (ages 15-18) will become citizen journalists by creating short digital stories for The SPEAK CITY HEIGHTS initiative. The SPEAK CITY HEIGHTS project is funded by the California Endowment in partnership with VoiceofSanDiego.org, Media Arts Center San Diego, AjA Project, and KPBS. The goal of the project is to bring City Heights voices & stories into local news via 2-3 minute digital stories. Teens will pick leaders & topics from the City Heights community and create a 2-3 minute digital video highlighting important community issues.
