REEL TALKS

Behind the Scenes - March 11 - 21, 2010

 

San Diego Latino Film Festival partners with international and local film communities to bring you a set of live workshops & panel discussions. Reel Talks will take place at UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas throughout the festival, and will offer emerging filmmakers, screenwriters, artists, scholars, students and film lovers outstanding opportunities to meet with top professionals and learn the craft of cinema in the real world, with with a focus on new trends, insider tips and emerging technologies.

CINESTESIA: Music Video Workshop

An insightful look into the ever-changing world of music video production. Take a close look at how music and film have yielded an entirely new art form, and how it has changed the way we perceive the entertainment industry. Come meet some of the industry’s top players, including directors, musicians and record label executives, who will share their knowledge and real world experience to help you break into the business. With special guests: Camilo Lara (EMI Latin), Jazz Basurto (MTV, Noise Lab TV) and Marla Gamez (X1FM Network).

Get Your Project on PBS - Pitch Session

Thinking about submitting your proposal to LPB’s Open Call or want feedback from funders, filmmakers and local PBS executives? Come and pitch your idea to us! Screen a trailer and get feedback before submitting it anywhere. If you have a project you feel is suitable for PBS, you should not miss the opportunity to have a personal 10-minute pitching session with Luis Ortiz, Managing Director, Latino Public Broadcasting, and Laura Varela, LPB funded Producer/Director of “As Long as I Remember: American Veteranos”. Digital Storytelling: Preserving Nuestras Historias
Learn how to create and record personal stories about the people and events that have shaped your life. During this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of digital storytelling, including how to use your home computer and the Internet to post your stories and share with family and friends. Led by MEDIA ARTS CENTER SAN DIEGO’s Patric Stillman (California of the Past) and Melissa Johnson (The People’s Post).
