Mujeres Asesinas is part of SDLFF’s Latinos in TV Showcase. Join us to celebrate the huge success of this series on both sides of the border. See uncensored versions of new and past shows, participate in a Q&A with producers, and get your photo taken with guest actors/actresses from the series. With its fun, campy style, Mujeres Asesinas portrays strong female characters and actresses of all ages.

A cross between the U.S. shows, Desperate Housewives and Dexter, dark humor abounds with a serious under-tone as “Killer Women” depicts women’s revenge against those who have trated them badly. The series is based on the book “Asesinas” from author, Marisa Grinstein, and screened in Argentina and Mexico before becoming a big hit in the U.S. as well. In fact, the show’s second season premiere reached higher ratings on Spanish language Univision, than English language networks received in the same time slot! SDLFF 17 screens two episodes from Mujeres Asesinas: Sandra, Trepadora & Carmen, Honrada, who is portrayed by Carmen Salinas. In this episode, Carmen tries to keep a brave face in spite of constant humiliations. She faces a hard life of sacrifice striving to get her family ahead. Sandra, Trepadora stars Lisardo Guarinos and Itati Cantorol; who plays a young conservative women who suddenly awakens to the sexual power she has over men.

Come meet guest actors: Carmen Salinas (former SDLFF Tributee winner), Lisardo Guarinos and Producer Pedro Torres, on Friday, March 12th.

Carmen Salinas Returns to San Diego on Friday, March 12th
