A Celebration of Sci-Fi, Horror, & Fantasy Films from U.S., Mexico, Chile, & Spain!
Once the theater goes dark and lights begin to flicker on the big screen, it’s easy to let your imagination soar and escape into worlds of the unknown. This year, the 2009 festival brings comic super heroes, time machines, falling meteors, and salt-mine mysteries. Science fiction, horror, and fantasy are explored in MUNDO EXTRANO. New films never before seen in San Diego to be screened in this showcase include:

All El Mundo Extrano feature and short films will be presented in Spanish with English Subtitles.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Ever wonder how those special effects are made? The Documentary EL ULTIMO TRUCO (The Final Illusion) highlights the work of Emilio Ruiz del Rio. The special effects wizard and set painter played a pivotal role in Dune, Pan’s Labyrinth, Conan series of films, and Red Sonja. The riveting documentary includes his life story in his own words alongside of interviews with directors Guillermo de Toro, David Lynch and Ray Harryhausen.
