Two students from Barrio Logan share their experiences of trying to reach higher education. With support from their parents and family, help from community education organizations, and outreach from the local community college, they hope to achieve their dreams. Student filmmakers explore the reality that although youth may face many challenges to complete their education, they may also create their own passion and motivation to make the best of their educational experience.

My mom decided to come to the US because we were missing each other. But after five or six months, they went to Tijuana for a computer. My mom went back to get a computer, but when she came back, in the Frontera, they took her visa away. So that day I was waiting for her call, but every time I was calling her, she didn't answer, so the whole day I was waiting for her call.

When I arrived in Mexico, and I was enrolled in school, in September, as the director was writing down my name, she asked my name, and I said my name was Margaret Sanchez. And she said, “no, no, no, your name is Margarita Sanchez.” And when she took me to this room, and at that time it was a brand new school, they only had two rooms, and it was like Little House on the Prairie.
