AMERICANS: Latino and Refugee Youth Perspectives on the American Dream

During a period of 4 months in the Spring of 2008, MACSD Media Arts instructors Jodi Cilley and Farzad Nikbakht worked with 11 youth in the production of a 10-minute documentary.

In this documentary, Teens compare and contrast the experiences of individuals from two specific San Diego communities, East African Refugees and Latinos, in order to examine the opportunities and obstacles these two communities face as they attempt to establish a life for themselves in a new city and country.

Click on WATCH STORIES on the left of this page to see the completed documentary and also watch behind-the-scenes footage with the participating youth.
