WOMEN’S SHOWCASE
Over the past fifteen years, the number of women both in front of and behind the camera who make Latino films has greatly increased around the globe. This year’s festival celebrates contributions by women in a wide variety of films. Films BY women or ABOUT the women experience include:

CINE MUJER Shorts Program
Also, in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, San Diego Latino Film Festival welcomes our audiences to join us for CINE MUJER. This special program of short films looks at the world through the eyes of women of different ages, different cultures, and different challenges, from a unique feminine perspective. Films in this presentation include: Debajo de sus Faldas, Catharsis, Eddie, Eso Beso, Madre, No Es Buena Idea, La Quela, Saliva and Tight.

CINE MUJER Documentary Program
Two very diverse documentaries by emerging women filmmakers are being presented together.
Mexican Director Eun-hee Ihm shares her gripping documentary SER ISLA about the hardships faced by survivors of war in Korea - co-Presented by the San Diego Asian Film Festival.
Director Lauren Rosenfeld explores the struggle of Chilean farmers trying to preserve their culture, land and water rights through personal testimonials and powerful storytelling.
