Cine'Mation: Latino Animation Showcase
2007 may well be remembered as the Festivals most animated year ever! Our first showcase has exploded into nearly every facet of this year's festival.
FILMS
Our staff has worked hard at finding some of the best international amination for you to watch on the big screen this year. There is something for everyone; Art House programs alongside of more traditional family films. For those interested in the art of animation, we will be presenting animatics, 2D, 3D and stop-motion films. Film details are below.
ARTISTS
The festival has collected some of the brightest Latino illustrators in the field of Comic Strips and Comic Books as well as international animators and is bringing them to San Diego! You can currently see their works exhibited as this year's ARTE LATINO at the San Diego Art Institute: Museum of the Living Artist in Balboa Park. Don't miss the chance to see the works of one of Mexico's Greatest Cartoonists, EL CHANGO [and check out the amazing documentary on EL CHANGO that is showing at this year's festival as well!]
PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOP
You have the opportunity to hear how the creators of BALDO and EL MUERTO were able to bring their characters to life on TV and on the Big Screen! Don't miss this intimate opportunity!
CENTERPIECE FEATURE FILM & GALA
The Centerpiece Celebration will be bursting with animators and illustrators at the NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE of
Wood & Stock: Sexo, Oregano e Rock'n'Roll followed by an ARTrageous Celebration inthe Gaslamp with the evening's hostess, the beautiful, DAYANARA TORRES (1992 Mis Universe)!
CLOSING NIGHT FEATURE FILM & GALA
Breaking news! On our closing night, we are thrilled to show EL MUERTO, the film based on the cult comic book starring Wilmar Vallderama with special guests El Muerto Creator JAVIER HERNANDEZ and stars TONY PLANA (Currently appearing in Ugly Betty) and ANGIE CEPEDA (appearing in the upcoming LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA)!
