Hecho En Chile

Hecho en Chile: A Retrospective of Chilean Films (1957 to 2006)

Presented by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Chilean Cinema offers some of the most exciting films coming from Latin America today. Chile is now producing up to 15 feature films per year, up from a low five films per year from 1997 to 2003.  Chilean films have also been making their way into the United States.  Andres Wood's acclaimed Machuca was well received by audiences throughout the United States when it was released by Menemsha Films.  LionsGate's La Mujer de mi Hermano, a co-production from Chile & Peru, grossed over $4 million at U.S. theaters.  Miami, Palm Springs, and Havana are among the major film festivals that have highlighted Chilean Cinema retrospectives in recent years. Though the SDLFF has screened many Chilean films such as Promedio Rojo and Machuca, this will be the first time the SDLFF will have a far-reaching celebration of new and classic Chilean Cinema that will include classic feature films, guest filmmakers, short films, a reception, and classic documentaries.

Don't miss this amazing opportunity to see new and classic internationally acclaimed films!  The incredible selection of Chilean films to be screened at this year's film festival include:
