"Tu Voz" – Your Voice can be heard and seen right here. Use the Tu Voz Program Guide and website to go together with your film viewing, and help spark thoughts and discussions about program topics.
The "Tu Voz" series is a unique collection of youth-made videos exploring the diverse realities, hopes and concerns of youth throughout San Diego and the surrounding communities. Youth participating in this project have learned first-hand to use digital technology, to write stories, and to make and edit their own videos guided by professionals in the field. Besides an introduction to film/video making, youth investigate mainstream media’s images, messages and marketing plans. They build critical viewing skills, gain communication tools, and also explore careers in multi-media.
As you watch these programs with your friends, family, at school or neighborhood groups, think about how the stories you’re seeing are the same or different from experiences or feelings you’ve had. Talk about these thoughts and take notes in the back of the guide or within the chat room on the "Tu Voz" website. Each program in the guide includes ideas and websites to extend the topics through discussions, activities and projects Please add ideas that grow out of your group and chat room talks. Submit these on the "Activity/ Project Ideas" link. Click that link to see what others have to say, and what projects they’re involved in.
