| Handsome, dapper José (Eduardo Verástegui) is a young soccer star
on the rise. A few years later, he’s a reserved, shaggy-haired chef at
an upscale Mexican restaurant owned by his prickly brother Manny
(Manny Perez). When the striking waitress Nina (Tammy Blanchard)
arrives late for her shift, Manny fires her on the spot. José offers the
frazzled young woman a much-needed shoulder to cry on. The film
charts the duo’s blossoming relationship with a dynamic and casual
rhythm. Bella won the prestigious Audience Award at the 2006
Toronto International Film Festival. |
