| A taut social-political thriller, Sin Nombre is set along the Mexican border, the ultimate testing ground between the murderous gangs of Mexico, and the challenge to make it to freedom. A winner at this year’s 2009 Sundance Film Festival (Directing Award & Cinematography), Sin Nombre is Cary Joji Fukunaga’s first feature film, and is an excellent example of contemporary classic film noir. The stories of Sayla (Paulina Gaitan) a teenager from Honduras who yearns to leave Central America and cross through Mexico to the U.S. for a hopeful future; and gang members Smiley (Kristyan Ferrer) and Casper (Edgar Flores) who become intertwined as the long train ride toward the border, becomes a trip that charts the destiny of their lives.
